Yettel makes eSIM available to all

In addition to medium-sized and large enterprises, now Yettel consumers and small-business customers can also get a virtual SIM card. Using eSIM enables the full elimination of plastic waste generated by traditional SIM cards in the long run, it makes mobile phone use more convenient and provides direct internet access also to other devices. The latter is supported by a new consumer tariff plan designed specifically for smart watches.

Fewer roamers, more total roaming traffic and international calls

As expected, the mobile internet and voice call traffic of roaming customers has increased significantly in Ukraine. The number of international calls made and SMS messages sent from Hungary to Ukraine has also significantly grown. In Russia, the length and number of roaming calls have been on the rise, while the number of international calls made and SMS messages sent on Yettel’s network have also increased substantially.

Yettel offers more than 40,000 topped-up SIM cards, 1,300 mobile phones, Wi-Fi hotspots and other communication devices to Ukrainian refugees

Starting from 4 March 2022, Friday, Yettel is providing more than 40,000 topped-up SIM cards to Ukrainian refugees. With these SIM cards topped up by the mobile operator in advance, refugees can use the following services:
•    unlimited access to mobile internet in Hungary on the day of card activation
•    5GB of mobile internet (to be used in 30 days)
•    50 minutes of domestic airtime (to be used in 30 days)
•    free international calls to base-rate Ukrainian phone numbers (until withdrawal)
•    free roaming in Ukraine (until withdrawal)

At the same time with rebranding, the operator also renews its consumer tariff portfolio

Yettel – renamed from  Telenor as of 1 March – offers many new things to its consumers. Besides its name and image, the operator has also renewed its consumer services. The new tariff plans including unlimited domestic mobile internet can be combined with group-based discounts. Yettel has also introduced new prepaid tariffs.

Operator accepts pre-orders for S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra models from 9 February

The three models of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series including S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra are available for pre-order from Telenor as of 9 February. Customers pre-ordering anyof these three models can request a Galaxy Buds Pro wireless earphone for their smartphone from Samsung. Customers pre-ordering Galaxy S22 Ultra get a HUF 55,000 discount using the trade-in option, while those pre-ordering S22 and S22+ are eligible for a discount of HUF 35,000 with trade-in.

Schools get digital devices worth HUF 10 million

Digital Springboard program for the institutions of underprivileged regions is closed

A joint program by Telenor Hipersuli and the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid provided educational devices to schools in Baranya, Békés, Hajdú-Bihar, Somogy and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties. Under the program launched to help bridge the digital divide, tablets and laptops were donated to the schools of five underprivileged communities. HiperSuli now supports digital education in 101 schools across the country.

Telenor and Tungsram take the stories of Hungarian scientists to the Moon

Katalin Karikó, Zoltán Bay and Albert-László Barabási featured on Moon plaque

The Peregrine space probe will be launched in summer 2022 to take scientific equipment and some special payload including the Space Time plaque of Hungary’s Puli Space Technologies to the Moon. The metal plaque capable of withstanding the most extreme circumstances for several thousands of years will feature the stories of Hungarian scientists as a message from two Hungarian companies to travel farther in space and time than ever before. Telenor etched the scientific achievements of five outstanding contemporary researchers while Tungsram added the story of Zoltán Bay, the first scientist detecting radar echo from the Moon, to the Moon plaque as if to a microfilm.
