Yettel offers more than 40,000 topped-up SIM cards, 1,300 mobile phones, Wi-Fi hotspots and other communication devices to Ukrainian refugees

Starting from 4 March 2022, Friday, Yettel is providing more than 40,000 topped-up SIM cards to Ukrainian refugees. With these SIM cards topped up by the mobile operator in advance, refugees can use the following services:
•    unlimited access to mobile internet in Hungary on the day of card activation
•    5GB of mobile internet (to be used in 30 days)
•    50 minutes of domestic airtime (to be used in 30 days)
•    free international calls to base-rate Ukrainian phone numbers (until withdrawal)
•    free roaming in Ukraine (until withdrawal)

The aid package also includes 1,300 mobile phones. The SIM cards and the mobile phones can be collected while stocks last by those with a Ukrainian ID at the registration points set up along the border in Záhony, Lónya and Tiszabecs, and at two sites in Budapest: in Yettel shops in WestEnd City Center near Nyugati railway station and in Aréna Pláza.

In cooperation with the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid (HRCA), the mobile operator also offered other telecommunications devices and services during the crisis. It provided HRCA with 10 mobile phones with unlimited airtime and mobile internet that are made available to anyone in need near the border crossing points and at Nyugati railway station. To support refugees, Yettel also installed 4 high-capacity mobile Wi-Fi routers available to users free of charge. These routers are made available by HRCA where they are needed the most.

“We keep in touch with our humanitarian partner organizations and regularly consult with them. We want to do our best to respond fast based on the needs reported by them and provide relevant support with our telecommunications services, expertise and colleagues’ contribution during the crisis”, said Peter Gazik, CEO of Yettel Hungary.

The employees of Yettel launched an in-house initiative to collect food, raise funds and make donations in kind. These initiatives involve staff from the Yettel HQ in Törökbálint, the company’s Szeged call center and its retail network. Yettel Hungary matches the funds collected by its employees.

In addition, Yettel has cancelled SMS, call and data charges for customers using roaming services in Ukraine, as well as the charges of international calls made from the Hungarian network to Ukrainian phone numbers. For more information, please visit https://yettel.hu/jovairas.
