More than 3,500 phone calls, donations of HUF 8 million, 63 volunteers and 150 mobile handsets support children living in children’s homes through Telenor’s Christmas campaign. The operator aimed to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by children removed from their families and support Gyermekhíd Foundation, a child charity calling volunteers to join its activities.
Based on Telenor’s data, demand for mobile internet services tends to be higher in the holiday season. In response, the operator offers a 100 GB data ticket at a price of only HUF 1,000 for its customers in December. The 100 GB data valid for one week provides an ideal solution for the increased communication needs of the holidays. Children living in children’s homes were marked as their most supported target group by only 18% of respondents despite the fact that Hungary has about 25,000 children and youth in state care, removed from their families. The Hungarian Reformed Church Aid and Telenor have again announced the Digital Springboard program targeted at educational institutions serving disadvantaged communities. The schools submitting a bid to to the tender held for the second time can apply for digital devices worth HUF 2 million per school. In addition to the total budget of HUF 10 million, the teachers of winning educational institutions will also be enrolled in a 30-hour accredited online HiperSuli Digital Methodology Training.
Telenor conducts nationwide representative survey on Hungarian’s festive consumption and communication habits
Although the pandemic has made most Hungarians more price sensitive, they plan to spend HUF 59,000 on Christmas gifts on average which is slightly more than last year, concluded Telenor’s nationwide representative survey [1]. The survey about Hungarian’s Christmas plans revealed that four out of ten people spend less time with their friends and family than they would like to and they plan to catch up during Christmas. If they cannot meet a loved one in person, most of them call them on their mobile.
