YETTEL AND 2CONNECT SIGN WHOLESALE AGREEMENT FOR FIXED BROADBAND SERVICES

Under the agreement between the two companies, 2Connect will provide Yettel Hungary with wholesale broadband access through its gigabit capable fixed infrastructure. As a result, fixed internet service will become available to Yettel customers in the second half of the year.

As part of the agreement between Yettel Hungary Zrt. (Yettel) and 2Connect Távközlési Infrastruktúra és Hálózati Szolgáltatások Kft. (2Connect), 2Connect will provide wholesale access to its fixed broadband infrastructure for Yettel. This will enable Yettel to offer fixed electronic communications services to residential and business customers as part of its own service portfolio. The agreement reinforces the market relevance of the neutral wholesale infrastructure provider model, while supporting the efficient use of network resources.

The cooperation aligns with Yettel’s strategy

Yettel Hungary is one of the most dynamically developing and innovative players in the Hungarian telecommunications market, driven by real customer needs and committed to making digital everyday life simpler, faster and more reliable. Years of network investment have delivered tangible results: according to nationwide aggregated data published on NMHH’s szelessav.net, Yettel provides the fastest mobile download speeds in Hungary, underscoring both its technological strength and dedication to service quality. Building on the success of mobile based home internet — which has proven to be a fast, flexible, installation free alternative — Yettel is now taking a major step forward by adding fixed broadband to its portfolio. Integrating mobile and fixed technologies broadens customer choice and ensures that users can access the service that best fits their needs from a single provider, all at a consistently high level of quality.

Through this cooperation, Yettel can deliver gigabit capable fixed internet to a much larger area and broader customer base, offering more complete and easier to use connectivity solutions. This step further strengthens Yettel’s market position and reaffirms its long term focus on innovation, flexibility and customer driven development.

“Yettel has been successful in implementing its mobile-centric strategy by offering mobile, TV and home internet services on its award winning 5G mobile network. The partnership with 2Connect that we signed today gives us access to gigabit-capable fixed services enabling our customers to enjoy fully converged services from Yettel already in 2026.” – said Igor Prerovsky, CEO of Yettel.

2Connect’s position on the cooperation

The cooperation is built on 2Connect’s exclusively wholesale based operating model, providing a transparent and predictable long term framework for the development of Yettel’s fixed portfolio. The service relies on 2Connect’s high speed optical and HFC infrastructure, which reaches millions of households and businesses, and is provided under technical and operational conditions that ensure stable and reliable end user access.

As a member of the 4iG Group, 2Connect is one of Hungary’s leading fixed telecommunications infrastructure providers. Operating solely on a neutral wholesale basis, it offers network and data center solutions for telecommunications and retail electronic communications providers. The company does not engage in retail activities; its role is to supply the network and data center infrastructure required for telecommunications and digital services. Established through the 4iG Group’s transformation program, the company enables the independent and transparent operation of infrastructure activities. In line with its history, One Hungary is one of the key wholesale partners and users of 2Connect’s fixed infrastructure and data center services. With the current agreement, Yettel joins the company’s open wholesale model as a new service provider. 2Connect operates nearly 42,000 km of optical network, 15,000 microwave endpoints, and roughly 6,500 m² of data center capacity. Its nationwide backbone and access networks and data centers ensure connectivity for the Hungarian and regional digital economy.

„Building on the decades of wholesale experience of 2Connect and its predecessors, this agreement is an important step toward the efficient and service neutral use of Hungary’s nationwide fixed-line infrastructure. Following a model widely used internationally, separating commercial telecom services from the underlying infrastructure ensures that network capacity becomes available to all market players on equal terms. 2Connect was created to operate an open, wholesale-only network that strengthens competition and supports the sustainable return on future network investments,” – said Gyöngyvér Papp Gerlei, CEO of 2Connect.

Wholesale cooperation with external market players fits into the long term strategy of the 4iG Group and supports the Group’s operational and investment objectives, strengthening the return on infrastructure developments and financial stability. The agreement goes beyond traditional wholesale partnerships: it reinforces 2Connect’s integrated market role, while the neutral fixed infrastructure based wholesale model increases the efficiency of network investments and stimulates market competition. By freeing up resources, retail service providers can focus on innovation and improving customer experience, allowing end users to access more stable, future proof digital services.
