According to 90% of women, the internet is important in one’s relationship and sex life

The WMN “Big Body Test” results are out

Do Hungarian women find themselves beautiful? How many of them were harassed online due to their looks? Who can protect us, if one of our photos is criticised online? Do women watch porn, engage in sexting, or take sexy photos of their partners in bed?

Questions like these and more about our body image, sexuality, and personal digital life were included in the questionnaire titled the “Big Body Test”, launched this March in Kriszta D. Tóth’s online magazine, WMN. In this study, sponsored by Telenor, over 4,100 participated, mainly women between 26 and 45. Only 4% of the respondents were male.

Surprising results

According to the answers given to the survey’s questions regarding digital habits and experiences, 10% of Hungarian women feel best in their skin when online. Among net users, of choices between conspicuous clothes, a perfect hairdo, and an ideal mental state when competing for praise, the results showed that the latter won with 59% of the results. 90% of the female participants have used their mobiles in their sex lives. They have taken photos, videos in intimate situations, watched porn or engaged in sexting, that is, sent highly erotic text messages or pictures to their partners. Based on the results, the good news is that 80% Hungarian women using the net have never received harsh criticism on social networking sites due to their appearance. However, most of them think that if a friend of theirs were insulted digitally, they would protect their friend, even publicly.

“The fact that there were so many participants in our first survey means that Hungarian women consider their body and their relationship with their body important, and that they can and should be talked to about this openly. Many of those filling out the “Big Body Test” questionnaire reported that it was so liberating to think through and face their own body image.”, said Kriszta D. Tóth, Founder and Editor in Chief of WMN.

According to the “Big Body Test’s” data regarding digital personal life, women feel at home in the online space and handle technical opportunities well. What’s more, these have become part of their daily lives.

“According to available public data, the majority of Hungarian internet users are women. As a service provider, just as we pay a lot of attention to and put a lot of energy into children’s online safely, so we would like to get a clearer picture of the relationship between the adult age group and the digital world. We hope the results of the “Big Body Test” results will contribute to women feeling good about themselves, in life both on and offline”, added Gábor Egyed, Telenor’s Corporate Communications Specialist.

Complete analysis of the “Big Body Test” and its results, which go beyond digital habits, is ongoing on the WMN site.
