Your old mobile phone is worth up to HUF 30,000 at Yettel

Consumers can contribute to the recycling of tonnes of used handsets
After last year’s successful campaign, Yettel is again encouraging people to return their used mobile phones to its shops. The operator is now offering a discount of up to HUF 30,000 on the purchase of a new mobile phone to those who return their old handsets as part of a campaign to support the responsible management of electronic waste.

Recycling of valuable materials

A mobile phone that is no longer in use can also be valuable: anyone can return their old handset to Yettel now to ensure its sustainable use. Unrepairable phones are dismantled and valuable metals such as gold, silver, copper, aluminium and palladium contained in their components are recovered and recycled. Not only are these materials returned to the cycle, but the need for their costly and polluting extraction is also avoided.

Collect and recycle

Environmental awareness is an important core value for Yettel. For years, it has been promoting the return of electronic waste to the circular economy through campaigns and various programs. It has been sponsoring the national selective waste collection competition GyűjtsVelem for years. During this year’s five-week competition, students from the 2014 participating schools collected a record amount of nearly 7,000 mobile phones and 38.5 tonnes of batteries, enabling their recycling.

Looking ahead, Yettel has committed to recover and recycle 22 tonnes of used mobile handsets between 2023 and 2028 to reduce its environmental footprint.

Environmental awareness brings extra discount this summer

Until 30 August, you can get a discount of up to HUF 30,000 if you return your old mobile phone no longer in use to Yettel’s shops and buy any new handset with a public consumer voice postpaid tariff and a 2-year contract. Handsets covered by the discount offer and available for HUF 0 include the HONOR X7a with a long battery time and the Samsung Galaxy A23 5G featuring a 50 MP main camera for stunning photos.
