Yettel Pay mobile payment platform launched

Yettel customers using mobile payment solutions get valuable prizes or a credit to their mobile account balance

Aiming to promote card-free, safe and fast mobile payment, Yettel offers payment solutions for convenience services and digital content on the Yettel Pay platform.

In response to the explosive growth of shopping through Google Play, Apple Store and other digital marketplaces, Yettel has created a uniform payment platform. The popularity of transactions bypassing banks is shown by the significant growth of the multibillion HUF market last year. In addition to traditional SMS-based transactions, Yettel Pay enables mobile account-based payment for the tickets and passes of several public transport services, online apps and extra in-app features.

Buy now, pay later

Introducing the options offered by Yettel Pay, the operator wants to add shopping on digital marketplaces (Apple App Store and Google Pay) to its mobile account-based payment portfolio including convenience services (such as parking, lottery, etc.). In practice, this means that once set, customers will be able to pay the costs of their pay apps without using a bank card or bank account. The amount spent will be paid by postpaid customers together with their next monthly mobile invoice. Prepaid customers can spend from their available mobile balance when using the payment solutions offered by Yettel Play.

“We see a major demand for mobile account-based payment solutions in Hungary with related sales rising by 4 to 6% even during COVID. The number of transactions completed on digital marketplaces (Apple App Store and iTunes, Google Play) has grown particularly dynamically thanks to smartphone games and entertainment content in the first place. The payment solutions of the Yettel Pay platform offer a convenient and safe alternative for such transactions”, said Máté Pomezanski, Digital Products Director of Yettel Hungary.

Yettel Pay is encouraging consumers to try and use payment solutions with a special campaign between 2 and 30 May. Customers completing a mobile account-based transaction on digital marketplaces Google Play and App Store/iTunes will be entered into a prize draw for 100 Samsung A33 5G smartphones, 20 Huawei Band 6 fitness bands, 20 Huawei Freebuds 4i wireless earphones and 10 Huawei Sound Joy portable speakers. In addition, 100 lucky customers will also have their monthly fee paid by Yettel. Transactions involved in the promotion have no spending threshold which means that every transaction completed in May will increase customers’ chances to win.
