Yettel and Rejoy launch partnership

Handset trade-in and new refurbished portfolio

Through Yettel’s new partnership with Rejoy, customers can sell their used handsets at fair market price, and even receive additional discounts from the operator. And from now on, handsets inspected and refurbished by Rejoy are also available at Yettel.

Selling old mobile phones is now much simpler and safer. Thanks to Yettel’s partnership with Rejoy, customers can trade in their used smartphones entirely online, with quick processing and fair market pricing. After the trade-in, Yettel grants a HUF 15,000 discount on the purchase of any new or refurbished handset available in its range.*

Rejoy's refurbished iPhone models are now available at Yettel

Alongside the handset sale process, Yettel is also launching the sale of refurbished handsets provided by Rejoy. As a result, customers can now purchase handsets that have been fully refurbished and tested against 67 quality checkpoints by Rejoy, and come with warranty coverage.  The range currently includes the following iPhone models: iPhone 13, 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.

Refurbished handsets are not only a more affordable alternative to new ones, but they also support sustainability: by making better use of existing resources and reducing electronic waste, they help protect the environment. In addition, these handsets come with up-to-date hardware and operating systems that will continue to receive software support for years – making them a reliable and safe choice in terms of both performance and usability.

All Rejoy handsets undergo comprehensive testing and come with a 2-year warranty – so customers don’t have to compromise on either quality or safety.

Sustainability and awareness – values shared by both partners

The partnership between Yettel Hungary and Rejoy aims to offer a solution that is both sustainable and customer-friendly for anyone considering a new handset, whether brand-new or refurbished. With the new programme, Yettel customers can sell their old smartphones directly online through the Rejoy platform, and use the proceeds along with the HUF 15,000 extra discount toward the purchase of a new or refurbished handset. For Yettel, it was important to choose a partner with proven expertise in the refurbished handset market, both domestically and across the region.

“We found in Rejoy a partner whose expertise, reliable system, and commitment to sustainability perfectly align with the values represented by Yettel. It is important to us that our customers can sell their old handsets at fair market value, in an environment that guarantees both security and a positive customer experience. We believe this joint solution will provide real benefits for those who want to buy a new handset conveniently, quickly, and with an attractive discount,” said Gábor Szabó, Head of Terminal Management at Yettel Hungary.

Convenient and secure trade-in – from now on also online

Most mobile users in Hungary still keep their old phones in a drawer or pass them on within the family – but this often leads to a loss of the handset’s value. Others try to sell their handset online, which can be time-consuming and uncertain, and even carries the risk of online fraud.

Under Yettel’s handset exchange programme, traded-in handsets can earn up to HUF 50,000 in purchase discounts during the summer. The newly launched trade-in programme, which allows customers to sell their used handsets, may offer even better value for those with well-maintained phones and is also more environmentally friendly.

The trade-in process – from handset valuation and logistics to financial settlement – is handled through a single, transparent, and easy-to-use platform. Customers can send their handsets to Rejoy either via parcel lockers or a courier service, with payments handled directly between the customer and Rejoy.

“Digital solutions are truly valuable when they naturally fit into everyday life. Our joint programme with Rejoy was developed with this in mind: customer research clearly shows that many people are looking for a simple and secure way to trade in their handset or purchase a refurbished phone. In response to this, we are now providing an easy-to-use and sustainable digital solution that is truly built around customer needs. In preparation of this new solution, we completed thorough research. In the first half of the year alone, we conducted more than 27,500 interviews from the USA to China, and also in Hungary, and the feedback helped ensure that the program is based on real experiences and needs,” said Dániel Bálint, Head of Customer Experience and Market Analysis at Yettel.

Rejoy and its parent company have so far purchased more than 426,000 handsets from customers, demonstrating a real and growing demand for the safe sale and recycling of used phones.

“As one of Central Europe’s leading brands, our strategic goal is to strengthen the sales and supply channels for refurbished handsets. Yettel’s decades of expertise and nationwide network now open a new dimension for us. Customers can not only view and purchase handsets in stores, but they can also trade in or sell their old phones. This completes the 360-degree collaboration, creating real value in the Hungarian market with a credible and professionally competent partner,” said Bence Blaumann, Managing Director of Rejoy Hungary.
