Sports content is especially popular with Telenor MyTV users. In January 2020, the men’s European handball championship and the men’s European water polo championship had a high viewership, not the least due to the outstanding performance of Hungarian national teams.
Sports fans don’t have to wait until the 2020 European Football Championship or the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo to keep a close eye on major international football events. Under an agreement between Telenor and TV2, a new channel is now available through Telenor’s MyTV service. The Spíler2 channel was added to MyTV Plus and Max plans on 25 February. In addition to leading international football tournaments, the channel’s offering also includes a variety of entertaining docu-reality series.
“In 2016, Telenor was the first mobile operator to offer Spíler1 on MyTV. We are very proud to add another sports channel to our continuously expanding offering. This way, MyTV users can watch must-see matches anytime and anywhere as a domestic customer, even while on holiday in any EU country, on a mobile phone, a tablet or the big screen (using AndroidTV box or Apple TV),” said Balázs Birck, Consumer Services Director of Telenor Hungary.
In addition to the new channel, Telenor is among the first providers to offer the Spíler Extra app with nationwide coverage in Hungary. The app provides access to Spíler 1 TV and Spíler 2 TV channels’ La Liga, Premier League, FA Cup games, and various UEFA Champions League and also SEHA League matches. Besides live access, it makes up to 3 additional games available through live or delayed live streaming in HD quality on a mobile phone, tablet or laptop. Customers subscribing to Spíler Extra only can watch the full program of La Liga TV in original language.
