Telenor launches fixed-line internet for business customers

Three types of Hiperline services to meet different business needs

Besides mobile services, medium and large enterprise customers can now use fixed line internet with unlimited data from Telenor. The leased lines services provide high symmetrical upload and download speeds and high availability to customers. Launching fixed-line service in addition to its broad portfolio of Hipernet-based mobile services, Telenor is leaving its mobile-only role in the market.

As a mobile operator, Telenor provided small- and large-screen mobile internet services to its business customers before. It also offered M2M/IoT, mass SMS and mobile bridge solutions to select customers. With the launch of Telenor Hiperline fixed-line internet service, Telenor’s business customers can now use not only mobile services but also three types of fixed-line data access either as ancillary or as stand-alone service.

Common features of the three fixed-line services are guaranteed high-speed, symmetrical download and upload bandwidth between 2 and 1000 Mbps, availability of 99.5%, 24/7 customer support, short deployment time and flexible options in endpoint design: copper or optical based wired or dedicated wireless connection. In the latter case, instead of the time-consuming and often problematic wired deployment at the customer’s office or premises connected to the service, a dedicated, closed-frequency wireless connection is set up to avoid the need to build a physical network on site or between buildings. The Telenor Hiperline service can be combined with Mobile PBX service, mobile extensions or even desktop GSM devices.

Three types of fixed line internet services to meet different needs

Telenor Hiperline leased line service

The managed leased line service is an Ethernet-based (L2) service connecting permanent, fixed endpoints (premises, branch offices). The solution is an unlimited data connection that allows efficient and reliable interconnection of either remote local area networks (LANs) or servers, so that sites in different cities can be organized into a common, secure network. It provides transparent transmission capacity between each network endpoint, which can be connected using standard Ethernet interfaces, enabling the customer’s IT department to manage routing and other advanced functions on its own.

Telenor Hiperline leased line Internet service

The service provides high-speed internet access via a leased line connection between the domestic location designated by the subscriber and Telenor, that is, a gateway to domestic and international internet nodes. The service provides access to public Internet exchangers with individually agreed availability and unlimited data traffic. Telenor assigns at least one /30 IPv4 domain to the service.

Telenor Hiperline IP VPN service

The new private network service that can connect multiple fixed endpoints (sites), providing an IP-level (L3) private network with a “full meshed” or “hub-and-spoke” topology, depending on subscriber needs, that is, it can support either centralized or fully peer-to-peer communication. The service provides access to the private network (VPN) with individually agreed availability and unlimited data traffic. To accomplish this, each access section is interconnected using MPLS technology. An MPLS-based IP VPN logically consists of two parts: a backbone network that handles MPLS traffic, and an access network that provides access to each endpoint.

“In response to customer needs and feedback, we work to launch new services to inspire digital transformation which we consider key to competitiveness in the future. With our leased line internet services, we want to provide a solution to those wishing to deploy a fast and reliable fixed-bandwidth data transfer solution between their offices or sites, or connect their offices to the Internet through fixed-line broadband access. With this step, Telenor is entering the market of fixed-line services”, said Gábor Fülöp, Business Sales and Marketing Director of Telenor.
