Telenor provides 100GB of free data to home Hipernet users

Operator supports new group of customers; no certificate of enrolment is required to prove eligibility

Although Telenor’s services don’t fall under the scope of the government decree on free internet access, the mobile operator has been providing free access to education websites on its network since 27 November. Now it expands the range of benefits available to its customers in the emergency period with 100GB of free data in Hungary for consumers with Hipernet Home+, Hipernet Home, Hipernet and MyHipernet Home, Digitális Jólét 2GB tariff plans. Customers are not required to submit a certificate of enrolment to prove their eligibility.

Telenor as a mobile operator has joined the initiative on a voluntary basis and provides 100GB of free data for 30 days to consumers using Hipernet on the big screen (computer, tablet) without them having to submit a certificate of enrolment to prove eligibility. The offer available to customers with a Hipernet Home+, Hipernet Home, Hipernet, MyHipernet Home and Digitális Jólét 2GB tariff plan aims to support studying and working at home, as well as carefree holidays during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The free one-off 100GB data ticket can be activated by consumers on the MyTelenor online self-service platform, in the MyTelenor app, in Telenor’s call center at 1220, and in Telenor shops but the operator recommends that they use contactless online channels in the current virus situation.

In agreement with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Telenor made access to all education websites on its network free for all customers on 27 November. As a result, Telenor customers can use these websites without consuming their active data allowances. In response to the virus situation, Telenor decided to extend its support to consumers who use Hipernet as their primary internet access at home and generate increased data traffic due to the lockdown, home-schooling or home office arrangements. This offer is available between 1 and 31 December. If the Christmas holidays fall within the 30 day-period the data ticket is activated for, it can also contribute to carefree communication with friends and family during Christmas.

Telenor keeps analysing the virus situation and its social impact and is actively trying to find ways to support its customers in line with government actions in the state of emergency.
