The primary benefit of mobile customer service is that it gives customers more control over their subscription and enables them to monitor their current usage and balance status. The usage statistics of MyTelenor app show that checking the available mobile internet allowance is the most popular feature of the app. It is also clearly visible that smartphone users definitely want to manage their subscriptions in a fast and easy way. The number of transactions including balance topups, invoice payments and data ticket purchases keeps rising. The number of data tickets sold doubled in 2018 over the year before. Today, customers buy a high percentage of their Hipernet data tickets through the app.

Small screen beats big screen – improving customer experience

By the end of 2018, the number of mobile transactions exceeded that of desktop transactions in Telenor’s webshop. Customer self-service reflects the same trend. The mobile MyTelenor app is now used by more people than its browser-based desktop version. A typical customer opens the app twice or three times a week, mostly between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m.

MyTelenor’s redesigned, more transparent graphical user interface assists customers in accessing their subscription data in a fast and convenient way. It provides them with more information and feedback resulting in a higher level of control. As soon as they open the app, they immediately see their available data allowance, and they can access the data ticket ordering option, current monthly usage and free airtime a few swipes away.

Prepaid customers can check the validity of their current balance and 6-month topup history in the app. Postpaid customers can also monitor the instalments of their handset. An increasingly popular feature of MyTelenor enables postpaid customers to top up the balance of other prepaid customers from their own account. With a new convenience feature, they can now save the names of prepaid friends whose balance they regularly top up. The range of services available for purchase from the app has also been expanded. The service offering now includes e.g. additional airtime and music services.
