Hungarian national team wins game on Yettel TV: more people watch Scotland vs Hungary match than European Championship final

More people watched Kevin Csoboth’s goal than the European Championship final

Live sports fans are thrilled to be able to watch their favourite sporting events live from almost anywhere, even on their mobile phones. The recently concluded European Football Championship was an event that proved very popular with the viewers of Yettel’s TV service. According to Yettel TV’s traffic analysis, Hungary third group match against Scotland was the most watched game, while Hungary’s second match attracted the same number of viewers as the final. The winning goal against Germany was the most watched moment of the entire European Championship.

The most watched game of Euro 2024 among Yettel TV subscribers was Scotland vs Hungary on 23 June. During the match, which was the most important for the Hungarian national team, 15% more viewers tuned in to Yettel TV than on a normal day. Most of Yettel TV’s regular evening users watched the match that night, while the extra viewers were users who don’t normally watch TV at this time but sat down front of the screen for the match – or started the broadcast on their mobile phones elsewhere.

A match won by the Hungary ahead of England and Spain at 2024 Euro

The Scotland vs Hungary match saw a steady increase in viewership, peaking at the time of the winning goal in the 100th minute and also setting an absolute record for the whole of Euro 2024 on Yettel TV. Interestingly, the least watched match of the entire tournament was the Georgia-Czech Republic match on the afternoon of 22 June, which generated 300% less traffic than Hungary vs Germany – the big difference apparently being due to the different time of day.

The silver medal in the viewership competition went to Hungary’s second group match, which was played against Germany, and the England-Spain final. The Spain-Germany quarter-final in the knockout stage was the most interesting match for Yettel TV viewers, which, unlike the Scotland-Hungary match, did not generate more traffic than on a normal day, but diverted users from other channels.

It is clear that live sporting events attracted many viewers during the European Football Championship and the same is expected for the upcoming Olympic Games.  The difference is that while the European Championship games took place in the afternoon and evening hours, the Olympic Games will run throughout the day in a variety of sports, making it even more important to make broadcasts available flexibly, whether on TV, computer or mobile phone. Yettel TV provides an easy-to-use, high-quality solution to this need.

The service is quick and easy to set up and can be used on up to 3 devices simultaneously. The largest of the optional packages offers 97+3 TV channels and most TV programs can be watched live and recorded with pause and rewind. Yettel TV is now available for a one-month free trial with a new OtthonNet plan, a great option for sports fans during the upcoming Olympic Games.
