Milestone in Telenor’s digital education programme
Launched in 5 schools in 2015, HiperSuli focused on increasing the device and mobile internet penetration of the schools involved in the first year. Recognizing the importance of teachers’ digital competence, HiperSuli then shifted focus to the improvement of digital teaching skills. Today, 5,600 students and 300 teachers of 20 schools participate in the programme across the country. The experience gained by the teaching community during class visits and regular HiperSuli teachers’ meetings and collected by Telenor was submitted as the curriculum of an accredited teacher training programme to the Ministry of Human Resources. The programme titled “HiperSuli Course on Digital Teaching Methods” was approved by the Education Authority in January 2019 providing an opportunity for any teacher in Hungary to join an official accredited training programme on digital education.
The course focuses on the hows and whys of digital education. Why to use or not to use digital devices in education? How to use such devices in a way to benefit students? How can they support students’ understanding and learning? What methods are available to use digital devices in classes of different subjects and when is it better to avoid them? The course helps teachers be more confident in the digital classroom and better integrate both school-owned and self-owned digital devices in their daily teaching practices to prepare children for the real-life challenges of the 21st century.
