A Special Festive Initiative: Yettel to Cover the Cost of Christmas Trees for 100 School Classes

The mobile operator launches a nationwide call for primary and secondary school students to apply

This year, Yettel is surprising primary and secondary schools with a unique festive initiative. The first 100 classes in Hungary to apply will receive a Christmas tree, leaving students with nothing to do but enjoy decorating it together – they can even enter a competition to win valuable prizes.

For the sixth consecutive year, Yettel conducted a nationwide representative survey[1], in which Hungarians were asked about their Christmas donation habits, among other things. According to the findings, the number of people who plan to donate or volunteer this Christmas has increased compared to last year: nearly half of respondents intend to offer help, and one in ten considers this an essential part of the holiday season. Another positive development is the significant increase in the value of one-off monetary donations. While only a quarter of Hungarians gave more than HUF 5,000 last year, this proportion has grown to nearly half this year. The causes most likely to receive support are children in state care (36%), animal shelters (34%), and children with serious illnesses (30%). Disadvantaged children came fourth, while support for schools dropped to half last year’s level. In light of these findings, Yettel has decided to support school communities with a special Christmas initiative this year.

How classes can win a Christmas tree – applications now open!

This Christmas, the mobile operator wants to encourage people to celebrate moments spent together, both at home and in communities, rather than chasing perfection. To support this, Yettel is launching an initiative designed to bring the joy of the festive season into schools and transform the preparations into a shared experience, starting from mid-November.

As part of this, Yettel will provide and deliver a Christmas tree to the first 100 classes to apply, leaving pupils with nothing to do but enjoy decorating it together. Participating classes are encouraged to decorate the tree using their own ideas, which can include handmade decoration, creatively repurposed old phones, or any other unique pieces of decoration. The focus is not on achieving a perfect result, but on creativity, spending time together and sharing the experience. By submitting photos of their decorated tree, classes can enter a competition to win valuable prizes.
