Yettel is reforming the Hungarian mobile market with a digital tariff plan. Hungarian consumers can get a new subscription in minutes using the operator’s app without having to go to a shop. The digital tariff, called Yepp, can be activated, paused or cancelled at any time with the same simplicity and flexibility as fintech and streaming services, breaking decades of commitment requirements, while offering customers unlimited domestic data and speeds on Yettel’s large 4G network and ever-expanding 5G network. During the launch period, the subscription is available at a discounted price of HUF 5,990 per month.
Fast and flexible digital tariff plan
Banking, ordering food, shopping, watching a movie – more and more services are moving to mobile, and more and more users want to be able to do as many activities as possible fully digitally, on their mobile phones, conveniently, quickly and flexibly, anytime, without having to visit a shop or contact a customer service agent. Yettel is shifting the focus of digital customer service to the Yettel app, with more and more features to make customers’ everyday lives easier within a single app. User demand is clear: the number of the active monthly users of the app has increased by 19% in the past year. Yepp was also launched in the spirit of this digital transformation.
“We are revolutionising the telecoms market with a digital subscription that takes a fundamentally new approach. We want to offer our customers maximum convenience and an excellent digital experience, in the same way that fintech solutions have opened up new perspectives in the banking sector. As a technical solution, Yepp also demonstrates the excellent skills of Hungarian developers”, said Igor Prerovsky, CEO of Yettel Hungary. “Yepp comes after the completion of an important phase of our more than two-year complex network modernisation project which focused on customer experience and true 5G services”, he added.
The operator has recently invested tens of billions of HUF in a major modernisation project that has completely renewed its mobile network, increased the capacity of its 4G technology, which provides nationwide coverage to 2-3 times its previous capacity, and enabled the introduction of the latest 5G technology. The availability of 5G continues to expand – it is now available at more than 900 base stations across the country, the vast majority of which are in the 3600 MHz C-band, the spectrum that offers the best 5G capabilities. The increasing adoption of 5G has also enabled the launch of services such as OtthonNet and IrodaNet mobile internet-based home and office internet services as an alternative to fixed-line internet, and Yettel TV, which, despite their recent launch, already serve a national customer base of hundreds of thousands.
Mobile data revolution – what does Yepp offer?
The Yepp digital subscription can be ordered via the Yettel app. The quick and simple subscription process can be completed by choosing a classic physical SIM card or, if supported by the subscriber’s handset, an e-SIM, which can be installed in a few steps at the end of the purchase process and works essentially the same way as a traditional SIM card allowing the service to be up and running in minutes. Physical SIM cards are delivered free of charge: in Budapest and 4 cities (Debrecen, Győr, Pécs, Szeged) Wolt’s couriers deliver the card within one hour. MPL delivery with nationwide coverage is also available on the next working day if ordered before 2:00 p.m., but the customer can also choose the delivery day from the options offered at the time of the purchase.
Similarly to streaming services, Yepp has no commitment period. The next month’s fee will be charged each month to the bank card provided upon contracting, but the plan can be paused at any time and reactivated or cancelled within six months at no extra cost. The tariff includes unlimited data by default and 50 GB of EU and Zone 1 roaming data per month, as well as incoming calls and SMS.
Yepp customers only pay for outgoing voice calls or SMS messages when they need them. They can personalise their subscription flexibly on a monthly basis – that is, they can decide how many outgoing calls or SMS messages they need at any given time, according to their current needs. To do this, they can buy extra minutes, SMS and roaming data in the Yettel app in one-off and renewable versions that can be flexibly changed and cancelled as required. Outgoing voice calls are available in 50-minute, 250-minute and unlimited packages, while SMS are available in 50-message packages. Yepp customers can manage most of their subscription needs digitally via the Yettel app. They can order additional services and make simple payments with their stored bank card, and contact customer service via chat 24 hours a day.
Yepp can be ordered at an introductory price of HUF 5,990 per month until 30 September. The monthly fee is automatically charged to the bank card provided at the time of registration and at the beginning of the next monthly billing cycle, so there is no need to pay the bill separately. If the service is suspended during the monthly billing cycle, the service will remain available under unchanged conditions until the end of the cycle.
