Yettel launches AI training for teachers

AI is transforming education - ProSuli’s new training course provides practical skills

Challenge or opportunity? According to a recent UK survey, teachers are aware of generative artificial intelligence (AI), but many are not using it at all and feel a lack of training in the new technology. In Hungary, the use of AI in education is still in its infancy, but there is a growing demand from teachers to learn how to use the platform effectively. In response to this need, Yettel’s ProSuli program offers practical online AI training for teachers, who can learn not only the basics of the technology, but also how to use of AI to plan lessons and simplify administration.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most significant technologies shaping the future of education and fundamentally changing the way we teach. In a survey of more than 5,000 secondary school teachers conducted by the British Computer Society, 67% of respondents were first introduced to generative AI through the ChatGPT platform, but many still see the tool as more of a challenge than an opportunity. The research found that nearly two-thirds of teachers do not use AI at all in their day-to-day work, and only four in ten use it regularly to check students’ homework or assignments. The survey also found that 84% of teachers have not changed their assessment methods since the introduction of AI, and many lack adequate guidance and training on how to use the new technology.

Helping education – Yettel launches online training course to fill the gap

Teachers are increasingly interested in the potential uses of AI, but feedback suggests that many are unsure of how to integrate the technology as a support tool into their everyday work. Yettel’s digital education programme, ProSuli, has therefore decided to launch its own AI training course to introduce teachers to the basics, operation and potential applications of generative artificial intelligence. During the course, teachers will learn how to plan lessons using AI and how to use the tool efficiently, for example to develop curricula or simplify day-to-day administration. During the training, they will learn in a practical way how to ask AI systems the right questions – called prompts – to help them work more efficiently.

“AI is no longer the distant future; it is already here with us in the classroom and we as educators need to learn to adapt to this new situation. ProSuli's new training aims to help teachers use AI tools confidently and efficiently in their daily work. Rather than simply teaching them a new technology, we help them acquire an approach that can make AI a real companion in education,” said Balázs Koren, Head of ProSuli.

Digital skills need to be developed, not just acquired

Launched in 2015, ProSuli has become a key player in the digital training of teachers in recent years. Building on experience in digital teaching, the program’s accredited training is constantly evolving. The 30-hour, 30-credit program accredited by the Education Office not only teaches the use of tools, but also focuses on the development of teaching methodology. More than 150 teachers have completed the training in the last three years and nearly a thousand have registered with prosuli.webuni.hu in the last ten years. The training is provided in the form of video tutorials, that help participants acquire both digital knowledge and the skills to keep their knowledge up to date. With the new training course on the use of generative AI, ProSuli aims to bring digital learning opportunities to Hungarian educators and schools.

The first online AI training will take place on 4 April 2025. Applications are accepted until 28 March. Please visit this site to register.
