This is the second time in 2024 that the mobile operator has been recognised as an employer. Earlier this year, Yettel was the highest rated employer based on the opinions of current and former colleagues. This time, Yettel has been ranked among the best employers in Hungary based on an audit by the independent global Top Employers Institute. The company underwent a multi-month audit covering 240 aspects to demonstrate that its HR practices are also outstanding in international comparison. The rigorous and objective assessment examined all aspects of human resources in 20 sub-themes across 6 main areas, including HR strategy, digital HR management, working environment and conditions, employer branding and recruitment, career management, values/ethics and CSR policies, remuneration and recognition, engagement, well-being, diversity and inclusion.
The mobile operator excelled in the category covering employee wellbeing and feedback, as well as rewards and recognition. It scored highest (85%) in the category of business and HR strategy and leadership. It also scored above 80% in the categories of organisational development, digital HR and working environment. Yettel’s overall score is 74.73%, meaning that it applies almost three-quarters of the best practices covered.
The assessment shows that the mobile operator excels in a number of areas. It has several practices – for example in the area of employee benefits – that many other companies in the sample have not yet introduced or made widely and systematically available. One example is paternity leave, which allows employees whose partner is on maternity leave to take 4 weeks of paid leave in addition to the 5 days provided by law. The company also gives five days of paid leave to employees who have a grandchild. All employees are entitled to life insurance, health insurance, accident insurance, and private healthcare. Yettel’s “You can count on us” programme has been working well for years, providing all employees with free professional advice on legal, financial, health and lifestyle issues, as well as psychological and personal problems. Since the COVID pandemic, the Solidarity Fund has been set up and managed by the company to help colleagues who find themselves in unexpected and difficult financial situations.
“At Yettel we pay special attention to our employees, because it is through their work that we are able to provide our customers with high-quality service and a reliable mobile network. Any external recognition is very important to us as it proves that we are on the right track,” said Enikő Szalai, Chief HR Officer of Yettel Hungary. The certification is both an inspiration and a compass for us to continue to succeed in the areas where we are successful and to identify opportunities where we can improve.”
The Top Employers Institute is a global institution that certifies outstanding employer practices and enables companies to assess and improve their workplace environment in a wide range of areas. It helps spread best practices, and supports successful applicants to become certified, qualified and recognised employers. To date, 17 companies in Hungary have been certified by the organisation.
