Wonder Woman’s creator draws comics for Telenor

The lady next door becomes comics hero

Having prepared the longest fan scarf in Hungary, Telenor now demonstrates the power of rooting with a unique comics. Judit Tondora, illustrator of Wonder Woman, has created a comics story featuring the residents of a condo using her own experience. Readers can easily recognize their neighbours or even themselves in the characters. The online comics is also available in a limited number of print copies to Telenor customers.

The comics story titled “Rooting Unites Us” (Összeköt a szurkolás) presents a familiar situation when tension keeps rising between two neighbours in a condominium, a young man and an elderly lady, because of daily conflicts such as noisy cooking early in the morning or playing the guitar late at night. But when they eventually meet each other on the other side of the door, their relationship takes an unexpected turn.

The funny story was created by Judit Tondora, illustrator of world-famous content including Wonder Woman, Star Trek or Captain America. One of her most well-known comics was published in the New York Times Bestseller Beastie Boys Book. In addition to comics, she also contributes to the creation of books, games, magazines and animations. She considers The Illustrated Wild Boy by John DuCane published in 2019 to be her most exciting story. “Every story had an illustration of a different style and technique which was just a natural choice. I enjoyed that tremendously because I don’t like moving in only one direction in art”, she said.

Her latest work is based on the story of Telenor’s summer campaign focusing on the uniting power of rooting capable of putting an end to conflicts and creating cohesive communities. The campaign included a community record attempt creating Hungary’s longest fan scarf. The story of the comics takes place in a typical Hungarian condominium while its core conflict is rooted in the different lifestyles of its residents.

“I live in a similar noisy condo myself. The male character was inspired by the actor in Telenor’s commercial, while the old lady is a combination of typical personality traits familiar to all.  The greatest challenge of the story was to squeeze an old story rooted in the past in just 3 pages. For this reason, it was especially important to use the first page to depict the tensions efficiently”, added Judit Tondora.

The funny comics book produced in a limited number of print copies will be available to customers signing a new contract for the operator’s Hiper tariffs in Telenor shops. To view the 3 parts of the online version of “Rooting Unites Us”, please click on the links below:
