After more than two years dominated by the coronavirus, in 2022 the dark shadow of war has fallen on our lives. In response to the disaster, the whole country has moved as one. Humanitarian aid organizations, NGOs, self-organised groups and companies have joined forces to welcome, support and look after those fleeing the war. Some met refugees at the border, others offered their own homes to put them up or organised charity donation campaigns. Hungarian journalists worked on a 24x7 basis often in dangerous conditions to report the events to the general public.
In 2022, the Hégető Honorka Foundation is looking forward to receiving moving pictures and photo series presenting the different faces of war, the various ways humans respond to it and freedom that has been taken for granted by many of us before. The award program also welcomes photos and videos presenting social issues independent of the war and their potential resolutions and success stories.
The award program accepts works (moving pictures, individual photos or photo series of up to 10 photos) published and broadcast online or on TV between 1 June 2021 and 31 July 2022. Closing date: 21 August 2022.
This year again, applications will be evaluated by a jury panel comprised of journalists Antónia Mészáros, János Horvát and Balázs Weyer. Applications including photos will be evaluated by Kossuth and Balázs Béla award-winning photographer Éva Keleti.
Yettel has been sponsoring the Hégető Honorka Foundation and the Hégető Honorka Award Program for a long time. This year again it offers a special award to a selected project.
