Telenor adds home internet to product portfolio

Entering the home services segment, Telenor will launch home internet service called Telenor OtthonNet for consumers on its mobile network on 14 September. Providing unlimited data and home internet access, OtthonNet will be available to more than 1 million households upon its launch and its availability will be continuously expanded with further development.

Having launched its Hiperline fixed-line internet service for business customers last year, Telenor is now entering another market segment moving away from its role as a traditional mobile-only operator. Leveraging its mobile network, it will offer home internet service with unlimited data in the consumer internet market.

The operator believes that its mobile internet tariffs designed for home internet use will be used as an alternative to fixed line services by most customers. Experience gained with traditional mobile offers and positive customer feedback encouraged Telenor to enter the home services market with new products as part of its long-term strategy.

Key benefits of the OtthonNet service to be launched on Telenor’s mobile network on 14 September 2021:

•    unlimited data;
•    maximum download speed of up to 150 Mbit/sec;
•    fast and easy installation;
•    smooth use as a home Wi-Fi network by several devices at the same time;
•    availability to more than 1 million households across the country upon launch.

“Our strategy is based on the combination of great customer experience and state-of-the-art new services. We are committed to long-term investment to provide telecommunications services to our customers at a consistently high quality. Our long-term plans include the introduction of further home services. The launch of Telenor OtthonNet is the first step in this journey. The network modernization process underlying our new service will enable the introduction of more new products in the future. Technology advances now allow us to use the mobile network to provide services that used to be available only with fixed-line technology before”, said Peter Gazik, CEO of Telenor Hungary.
