With his new version of Csókkirály, the young rapper has made an old dream come true. He shows a completely new side of the iconic song with his unique style – while retaining the characteristic elements of the original hit, paying homage to Hungária and Miklós Fenyő.
He said he could easily identify with the character of Csókkirály and his relaxed and cool style, which is why he chose this song. “Already as a teenager, I was keen to take on the role of the Csókkirály – who wouldn’t? He is a popular badass character adored by many young girls. At that time, I also liked to be in the spotlight, that’s probably why I got into music,” said T. Danny, aka Dániel Telegdy about the song’s premiere.
In the video clip of the song, you can see T. Danny’s present and childhood selves at the same time, as they experience the hit song, and even Miklós Fenyő appears for a scene. “It was an honour and a great experience to work on the song. I honestly never thought I would ever touch a hit of this calibre. I’m very happy that I was able to do this while staying true not only to the original song, but also to myself,” added T. Danny.
Old handsets are still valuable
The new version of the song was created as part of the Yettel Stage music platform which aims to highlight the value of old treasures this year. Cooperating with T. Danny and reworking Csókkirály, Yettel is urging music fans to return their old phones lying around in their drawers back to its shops for professional recycling.
“We believe that just because something is old, it can still be valuable. And this is true not only for old mobile phones, but also for iconic Hungarian songs. This is why we asked a young and popular musician to raise awareness of to the importance of recycling by reinterpreting a great classic,” said Gergely Dolezsai, Yettel’s Brand and Marketing Communications Director.
The campaign will culminate in T. Danny’s concert in Budapest Park on 17 August, where besides his well-known songs, he will perform the new version of Csókkirály for the first time. Fans can gain admission to the concert using their old and unused mobile phones: if they return them to a Yettel shop by 13 August, they will participate in a draw to win two Yettel VIP tickets to the event. In addition, they can get a discount of up to HUF 30,000 for their old handset if they buy a new mobile phone with a public consumer postpaid voice tariff and a 2-year contract.
