Student internet safety test to celebrate Safer Internet Day

Online quiz and valuable prizes for young people

Since 2009, Safer Internet Day has been celebrated every year in February around the world. This year’s event falls on 6 February. During this time, several initiatives will take place to communicate that while the internet has many benefits that play an important role in global progress and social development, it also has downsides and threats that everyone should be aware of and be prepared for. To celebrate Safer Internet Day, Yettel is launching a nationwide educational game called Nagy Diák TudatosNet Test (Big Student Internet Safety Test) in partnership with DUE Media Network. The aim of the competition is, among other things, to give students an opportunity to learn about safer use of the internet in a fun way, while at the same time giving them the chance to win valuable prizes.

Launched to celebrate Safer Internet Day 2024, the national internet safety test has been available since 1 February. The competition is organised by DUE Media Network with the support of Yettel’s digital education program ProSuli. Aimed at 14-20 year olds, the online knowledge competition is a playful learning activity with valuable prizes, but it can be taken by anyone – younger children, parents or teachers – who want to test their knowledge about safe internet use.

Participation and prizes

The Nagy Diák TudatosNet Test (Big Student Internet Safety Test) is available at the website https://nagydiaktesztek.hu/tudatosnetteszt/kviz and can also be downloaded as an app for smartphones. The first round of the competition will take place between 1 February and 1 May. Those who register during this period and give the most correct answers to the 15 questions in the quickest time will progress to the semi-finals where the top 1,000 players will put their knowledge to the test on 7 May 2024. From there, the top 20 will go through to the online final on 10 May 2024. The award ceremony will take place at the National Youth Media Festival at the UP Event Space, Újpest, Budapest on 24 May 2024.

The winner will receive a Samsung Galaxy S23 phone, the runner-up a Samsung Galaxy A54 phone, while the third contestant a Samsung Galaxy TabA9+ tablet. Players in 4th to 10th place will each receive a JBL Flip 6 speaker.

“Our national research shows that 86% of young people aged 15-18 have unintentionally encountered harmful content, such as 18+ sites, fake news, phishing or even blackmail messages online. In addition to helping teachers improve their digital skills, Yettel ProSuli provides a range of opportunities for children, parents and teachers to learn about the dangers of the internet and how to protect themselves. The Big Student Internet Safety Test is a great opportunity to share our accumulated knowledge with young people in a fun way”, said Attila Mészáros, Yettel’s Corporate Communications and ESG Director.
