In the European Union and in zone 1 countries, mobile users don’t have to pay a roaming fee or they have to do so only in specific cases since June 2017. In these countries, Hungarian customers can use their subscriptions with the same terms as in Hungary by default, that is, they can enjoy much better terms for data, voice and texting services than before. For the most popular tariffs, the full data allowance can be used in the eligible countries. In other cases, the size of the monthly data allowance available in the EU and tariff zone 1 is regulated by the European Commission. As of 1 January 2020, the European Commission increased the roaming data allowance by up to 25% for several tariffs.
In its data roaming report for 2019, Telenor identified the countries in Europe and outside tariff zone 1 where its customers had the highest roaming traffic.
