  • Visit your nearest Yettel store and, after having your mobile checked, you can take out device insurance.
  • It's also no problem if you already have an insured phone. You can have valid insurance on multiple devices/accessories at the same time for the same subscription.

The free month promotion is valid until revoked. Insurance can be taken out for devices with a list price of up to HUF 1,000,000, online only when buying a new device, and in our stores for used devices as well, even at a later date.

because administration is exclusively done online or over the phone

Claims settlement process:

If the damage claim is accepted, a courier will collect the damaged handset and, if requested, delivers a replacement handset for the duration of the repair. If your device is damaged, the deductible is payable to the courier upon receipt of the repaired or replaced device. We can only provide replacement devices for phones, not for tablets and accessories. The repaired or replacement device will also be delivered by a courier, who will collect the Deductibles from you in cash on delivery. The damaged device will be repaired by the Insurer’s Service Partner (the insurance does not cover the restoration of data stored in the handset or on its SIM card). If the handset cannot be repaired or it was stolen, the Insurer’s Service Partner will replace it with a – new, refurbished or other flawless – handset of the same type. If no such device is available within the 20 working-day claims settlement period, the administrator will informs you of a device with parameters similar to the insured device.

In which cases will the Insurer not reimburse me?

Some common exclusions include:

if the device was being used by a minor
if there is an aesthetic defect which does not affect intended use
warranty faults (except for internal faults in case of the Extra package, that occur within the 365 days after the factory warranty period)
gradual deterioration, wear and corrosion
improper operation and non-compliance with manufacturer's instructions
if the user attempted to repair the device
damage caused by family members, housemates or the damaged party themselves
in the event of the theft of a device left unattended in a public place
for lost devices

Further information

Device insurance is provided jointly by Maxima Pojišťovna a.s. and Yettel. The insurance is available to natural persons over the age of 18, legal entities or other corporate Yettel customers without legal personality. Insurance can be taken out for a mobile phone, internet device, tablet or accessory with a maximum gross list price of HUF 1,000,000 purchased with a Yettel subscription, at the same time as the purchase. The insurance package selected cannot be changed afterwards. Device insurance is also available for postpaid mobile devices with a monthly fee (except notebooks), but not for devices purchased with a prepaid subscription. A maximum of two claims every 365 days can be reimbursed for a given device. The insurance is valid for a maximum of 60 months for a given device, after which it automatically expires. In the event of an accepted claim, the injured party must pay the deductible based on the insurance package.

Customers who received SMS information between 28 September and 31 October 2023, and whose insurance has been active for more then five months following the SMS for the device on which they received it, receive a one-time gift. The gift is a voucher worth HUF 5,000, which can be used to buy a cut-to-fit screen protector. The voucher is sent by SMS after the fifth month to eligible customers and can be redeemed immediately based on the terms and conditions.


Frequently asked questions

  • If the repair charge is less than the deductible, the repair is made against the device insurance. In this case, you do not have to pay the deductible, only the cost of the repair, and this claim does not count towards the two claims covered within the one-year period either.

  • In other cases, you can pay the deductible in cash to the courier who collects your repaired or replaced device.

  • With a very low monthly spend, you can keep your high-value device safe and secure, preventing unexpected major expenditure.
  • If, for example, the device is accidentally damaged or stolen within the loyalty period in place after purchasing of the device, monthly fees and instalments must be paid until the end of the loyalty period. The solution is device insurance, which allows you to have your device repaired or replaced.
  • Depending on the package you choose, the insurance is valid for accidental damage, vandalism and theft (burglary, robbery or pickpocketing), based on the general terms and conditions for device insurance. If the device is damaged, the insurer has the device repaired, or if it is stolen device it will be replaced with an identical model. Without insurance, however, in the event of mechanical damage (e.g. dropping or liquid damage), our company has no obligation to provide a guarantee under the warranty, and the consumer has to bear the cost of repair.
  • If you had to buy a new device because of damage and had no insurance, you would not get a new device at promotional price, but at list price, which would be much more expensive.
  • Quick help if your phone is damaged, for example. You don’t have to go without your device for days or even weeks, and it will be repaired or replaced within a short time after you report it. You can get a replacement device for the duration of the repair if you need one.
  • The device insurance cover is also valid abroad for 60 days.

Yes, if your mobile phone is on the list of insurable devices, it can be insured after the device has been checked. You can still get device insurance for your tablet within six months of purchase. You can insure your accessory at the following stores within six months of purchase, if you bought it at one of the following stores.

  • If you buy a smartphone, we recommend you to choose from our range of screen protectors and cases.
  • In addition, to protect your high-value device, we recommend you take advantage of our device insurance, which provides cover in the event of certain non-warranty events.
  • In the event of theft and damage:
    • you have 48 hours to report the incident to the police (if you are abroad, to the competent police department in the place of stay) or to the insurer’s administrator. If you are hindered in the above, the damage must be reported within 48 hours of said obstacle being removed, but no later than within 30 days.
  • In the event of accidental damage, internal failure or damage from humidity:
    • based on the General Terms and Conditions for device insurance, you must report the claim within 48 hours of discovery, but no later than 30 calendar days, or by calling one of the above claim lines (depending on whether you have taken out insurance before or after 1 November 2021) after you become aware of the insured event. If the damage occurred abroad, you must report the incident within 48 hours of returning home by calling the claim number provided.

Yes. Following the claim report:

  • for stolen devices, a police report is also required
  • in the event of theft or robbery, the IMEI number of the stolen device must be blocked in one of our Yettel stores;
  • you must return the damaged device, together with all accessories received at the time of purchase, to a courier organised by the insurer's service partner. The repaired or replaced device is also sent to you by the courier.

Our insurance packages cover the following cases:

  • Accidental damage (covered in all packages), for example:
    • Dropping and breakage.
    • Crushing or denting due to pressure or weight.
    • Damage caused by sudden contact with liquid.
  • Damage caused by a third party (covered in all packages), for example:
    • Intentional throwing to the ground or into water, or crushing.
  • Theft (covered in Medium and Extra packages), for example:
    • Vehicle break-in, burglary, swimming pool/workplace locker break-in.
    • Mugging.
    • Pickpocketing.
  • Internal failure (covered in the Extra package):
    • If sudden internal failure occurs after expiry of the factory warranty.
    • This guarantee can be enforced for 365 days after the warranty expiry date.
  • Humidification (covered in the Extra package):
    • Failure due to any kind of humidity or dampness (e.g. sweat or condensation) of the device (excluded from Basic and Medium packages).
  • When the insured person dies or, in the case of a company, the date of dissolution of the company.
  • When you cancel your device insurance.
  • When the device is assigned to a third party: on the day you have notified Yettel of this fact and provided proof of this fact in the form of appropriate documents.
  • when the Yettel subscription contract is terminated or transferred to another person (when changing subscribers).
  • After five years from the date of the inclusion of the first device in the cover for the given subscription (telephone number), provided that the insurance has been continuously active during this period.
  • For subscribers under forced collection proceedings, when the subscription is terminated.
  • Automatically on the 16th day for subscribers who suspend their mobile subscription for more than 15 days.
  • When switching to a prepaid subscription.

In addition, the insurer is entitled to terminate the insurance relationship without justification, with a 30-day notice period, for the end of the insurance period, by sending written notice to the insured.

Device insurance is complementary to the warranty and covers cases not covered by the warranty, such as accidental damage (dropping, breakage, sudden contact with liquid, etc.), theft, humidity or internal failure beyond the warranty period.

From an insurance perspective, any device, even if it is only one day old, is used if it was not insured at the time of purchase. This can now be remedied subsequently if the above conditions are met.

No, the warranty is completely independent of this insurance and, of course, remains valid. The insurance is extra protection against potential incidents outside the warranty, such as dropping, getting wet, breaking and theft.

No, unfortunately there is no possibility to take the insurance out again once you have cancelled.
